Aiuaba Experimental Basin
The Aiuaba Experimental Basin has an area of 11.53 km², covered with a completely preserved and controlled dry forest (shrub). In its outlet, there is a reservoir with a capacity of 60 thousand m³. The Aiuaba Experimental Basin is located in IBAMA’s Aiuaba Ecological Station in southwestern Ceará and it was created in 2002 under the IBESA project, with the support of FINEP / CT-Hidro. The basin has been monitored since January 2003. The basin is equipped with the following instruments: two weather stations (one at 2 km and one at 25 km from the outlet), three automatic rain gauges (measurements taken every 5 min), three automatic soil moisture stations, experimental site of interception (eleven pluviometers Ville de Paris and gutters for monitoring eight trees, in 100 m² area), automatic fluviometric station (Parshall gauge with automatic level gauge), automatic limnimetric station for reservoir level (hourly level measurements), river sediment column automatic collector model GFZ, evaporimetric tank class A, and limnimetric ruler installed in the reservoir. Some of the products have been disabled but are listed in the HIDROSED group database.
